I have been interested in photography for many years and got my first 35mm film camera when I was about 16 years old. My first SLR was an Olympus OM-2 bought over 30 years ago - a really great camera, very compact and with lenses that can't be bettered, even today. I still have it and it still works!

After many years of just taking holiday snaps, my wife got me a digital compact camera for Christmas a few years ago and I caught the bug again. The compact was soon upgraded to an Olympus E-500 plus the kit lenses - a very good buy second - hand on eBay!

Since then, more changes in equipment (and more expense). Most of the photos in the gallery below were taken using an Olympus E-30 body. Landscapes were taken using the Olympus 12 - 60mm f/2.8 - 4.0 SWD lens. Bird photographs were taken with the Sigma 50 - 500mm f/4.0 - 6.3 zoom lens (also known as the 'Bigma').

Yes - Canon and Nikon gear are both fine - I just like Olympus equipment and particularly their Pro grade lenses.
